Ella Purnell has joined the cast for Cyber Bully, a Channel 4 docu-drama about a teenage girl facing an anonymous online stalker and dealing with peer-to-peer bullying and advanced computer hacking, and eventually fighting back.
Cyber Bully, due to be broadcast in early 2015, takes place in a single location and also stars Maisie Williams and Jake Davies.
It will be presented in the form of a real-time thriller, directed by Ben Chanan, who was also responsible for Channel 4 drama-doc Blackout, which imagined the catastrophic aftermath of the collapse of the UK’s electricity supply.
Channel 4’s head of documentaries, Nick Mirsky, said: “It is one of the most important purposes of Channel 4 to find new ways of engaging young audiences with the cyber world and the stories that play out on the internet. This film does exactly that in a way that is gripping, relevant and fiercely public service.”
Yay – finally some exciting movie news! Ella has been cast to play Young Jane in the new Tarzan film which is set for release July 1st 2016. The David Yates (Harry Potter Director) film stars Margot Robbie, Alexander Skarsgård, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. Congratulations!!

World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation will be presenting a special Boston-area screening of the award-winning film Ways to Live Forever. Based on British author Sally Nicholls’ best-selling novel, the surprisingly uplifting story centers on Sam, a spunky 12-year-old leukemia patient, and his best friend/fellow-patient, Felix. Together, they set out to achieve their dreams and despite dealing with illness, learn some inspirational lessons about family, friends, and the oddities of life.
The Tuesday, September 23, event will take place at the historic Somerville Theatre (55 Davis Square, Somerville, MA) at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance through the Somerville Theatre or at the box office on The Day of the event. A portion of the proceeds go to benefit the Boston area chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), along with other cancer foundations and pediatric hospitals. Following successful premieres in Europe and Asia, the film was released in the U.S. last year by World Wide in partnership with LLS (http://lls.org), the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer, to raise further awareness of children’s cancers.
“Ways to Live Forever is a poignant film that illustrates how a boy and his family cope with leukemia,” states Sharon Klein, Executive Director of LLS Massachusetts. “This film is especially relevant today, because of the fact that more than 310,000 people are living with or in remission from Leukemia in the United States. LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to the best available treatments for all blood cancers. We will continue our fight until we live in a world without blood cancer.”
The film has garnered awards from around the world, including the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival’s Adult Jury Prize, Best Picture at the Bordeaux International Festival of Women in Cinema, the Heartland Film Festival Audience Award, and Best Feature Film from the European Children’s Film Association.
Ways to Live Forever stars critically acclaimed actors Ben Chaplin (The Thin Red Line, The Truth About Cats & Dogs), Greta Scacchi (The Player, Emma), Robbie Kay (ABC’s “Once Upon A Time,” Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Alex Etel (The Water Horse), Emilia Fox (“Pride And Prejudice”), and Ella Purnell (Maleficent, Intruders, Never Let Me Go).
Founded in 1977, World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation is a diversified company with shareholders throughout the world, primarily involved in the development, financing, production and distribution of feature films, documentaries, short subjects, industrials and television productions.
