In one of its biggest rollouts to date, Audible has unveiled a roster of stars for its English-language and international adaptations of Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic horror classic Dracula ahead of a worldwide launch this fall.
Bridgerton and Wicked: For Good star Jonathan Bailey leads the English-language production as Count Dracula, alongside Ella Purnell (Fallout) as Mina, Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus) as Lucy and Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Jonathan Harker.
They are joined by David Jonsson (Industry) as Dr Seward, Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) as Mrs Westenra, Johnny Flynn (Ripley) as Renfield, Francis Lovehall (A Thousand Blows) as Arthur and Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) as Professor Van Helsing.
The Audible Original is also being produced in Castilian Spanish, French, German, Italian, LATAM Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, with each version featuring all-star local casts.
The official synopsis for the Audible Original reads: “When her fiancé vanishes in Transylvania, Mina Murray pieces together fragments of letters, diary entries and chilling testimony to hunt the predator stalking those she loves, only to discover he’s already hunting her. When Mina’s closest friend Lucy succumbs to his thrall, the enigmatic Professor Van Helsing is summoned to wage war on this unfathomable threat. Mary Lambert, known for the cult horror classic adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, makes her audiobook directing debut on the production from an adaptation by Robyn Ahern. Composer Ilan Eshkeri (House of Guiness), who previously collaborated with Audible on 1984, has written the score.
The new production joins a growing roster of ambitious, all-star Audible Originals, which include the recently announced The Murder At The Vicarage with Toni Collette and Kit Harington; Pride & Prejudice, with Marisa Abel and Harris Dickinson, and 1984 with Andrew Garfield and Cynthia Erivo.
Dracula will launch in English, French, Italian, Castilian Spanish, LATAM Spanish on October 1. The German version will follow on February 9, 2027, while the cast and 2027 release date for the Brazilian Portuguese version has yet to be unveiled.
