Tim Burton is a filmmaker who always seemed drawn towards the peculiar. So his latest movie, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, strikes us as an ideal fit. Based on the book by Ransom Riggs, it’s a typically Burtonesque tale of fantasy and intrigue, detailing a magical orphanage populated with mysterious children and shape-shifting protectors. Empire has an exclusive first look at the film.

Eva Green, reteaming with Burton following their last collaboration on Dark Shadows, playing the title role of Miss Peregrine. Speaking exclusively to Empire, Burton describes Miss Peregrine as a “weird Mary Poppins like character—a strong and mysterious person who looks like she could turn into a bird. That’s Eva.”

This is a film dominated by fierce, powerful women – including Dame Judi Dench as Miss Avocet. “In the peculiar world, women are the protectors,” Burton explains. “Miss Avocet is the head of another peculiar school. But, much like the bird in her name, she’s a bit more of a nervous, flighty energy than Miss Peregrine.”

Here’s the full lineup of peculiar children, each endowed with unusual skills or powers. “I was a little worried about working with so many kids again,” Burton told us, “but they were all such professionals on set. You would never believe that it was some of these kids’ first big film.”

In a typically starry cast, Asa Butterfield and Ella Purnell lead up the child actors, while Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, and Samuel L. Jackson join Green and Dench. Burton is directing from a script by Jane Goldman, adapted from Riggs’ novel.

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children flies into US cinemas on September 30, ahead of a UK release on October 7. Be sure to pick up a copy of next month’s Empire (on sale March 31) for more exclusive tidbits.

Film director Tim Burton will move to the Antwerp municipality for two weeks together with a part of his cast.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children‘ is now in production; however it seems that the casting for movie adaptation of Ransom Rigg’s novel is still being decided. But then again, we’re just glad it’s already in production. There’s some pretty big names involved in this upcoming movie and their not your usual Tim Burton casting. There’s Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney and of course Samuel L. Jackson, alongside other actors.

Asa Butterfield will be the main character, Jacob; Ella Purnell will play Emma, Samuel L. Jackson will play Barron, and Eva Green will play Miss Peregrine.

New cast Allison Janney will play Dr. Golan, who will be Jacob’s psychiatrist. In the book, Dr. Golan is a man, however they chose to make the movie character a woman, this, I guess, is just one of the surprises that we can expect for the upcoming ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ the movie. Kim Dicken’s role is still unknown at this time.

‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ will be directed by gothic genius Tim Burton, and to be honest I can’t imagine anyone else directing this movie.

Synopsis of ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ according to 20th Century Fox:

“From visionary director Tim Burton, and based upon the best-selling novel, comes an unforgettable, thrilling and haunting tale. Sixteen-year-old Jacob follows clues that take him to a mysterious island, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores the abandoned bedrooms and hallways, he discovers that its former occupants were far more than peculiar; they possessed incredible powers. And they may still be alive.”

This is the second collaboration between actress Eva Green and Director Tim Burton. The first one was in 2012’s adaptation of ‘Dark Shadows’. The book has a very gothic feel to it, so this movie is surely a perfect match for Tim Burton. All Tim Burton fans are really excited about it.

‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ is going to hit the big screen on March 4, 2016.

Samuel L. Jackson is the latest actor related to the Tim Burton-directed movie, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Variety announced that Jackson is currently in talks for a part in the movie, nothing definite being yet announced. What is certain, nonetheless, is that if he accepts the part, he will act along with actress Eva Green, who is already officially assigned to the main role, that of Miss Peregrine herself.

Apart from collaboration with the Sin City actress Eva Green, Samuel L. Jackson would star along with numerous undiscovered or fresh talents, given that the fantasy movie centers on the relationship between Miss Peregrine and her ‘’peculiar children.’’ If he is only in the talk-stage, young actors like Asa Butterfield or Ella Purnell were already confirmed. Little Asa is considered for the part of Jacob Portman, the male lead, whereas Ella Purnell will play Emma.

Tim Burton’s upcoming picture is based on the debut novel by American author Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, published in June 2011. The fantasy novel became an immediate hit and the movie – considering the cast (including Samuel L. Jackson) and Tim Burton’s preference for fantasy and the peculiar – is likely to become one as well. The plot of the book is centered on the life of 16 years old Jacob Portman (Asa Butterfield) who travels to Wales to investigate on the life of his late grandmother. There, he discovers ‘’the derelict orphanage for peculiar children’’ and encounters Emma (Miss Ella Purnell), ‘’a strikingly pretty girl’’, with whom he time travels into the 1940’s to meet the orphanage director, Miss Peregrine.

Samuel L. Jackson’s joining the team of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children would represent the adding of a class A actor on a list of names of the future, with all the young ones involved. And, of course, the attractive Eva Green, who apart from being ‘’a dame to kill for’’, must now prove that ‘’the peculiar’’ becomes her. Apart from his current role as in Nick Fury in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jackson also stars in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will be released on 4 March 2016.

After 25 years since filming “Edward Scissorhands”, Tim Burton may be back in Tampa Bay, Florida to shoot his next film, “Peregrine: Home for Peculiars”.

“They are like 99 percent confirmed. But chances are extremely good that they’ll be shooting here in the spring. It’ll be shooting primarily in London, but parts do take place in Florida,” news broke by St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film commission head, Tony Armer last Wednesday, December 8.

“It’ll be not necessarily beachy, but an old Florida home type of look. They’ll be shooting in some neighborhoods in Pinellas County, and also in Tampa,” he added.
Armer also said that the film isn’t receiving any funding from Florida (as published at TimeOut). “Because he’s Tim Burton; he can almost do whatever he wants. He has a little more sway, I guess you’d say, than your average filmmaker.”

Although there are no many news about the “Miss Peregrine: Home for Peculiar Children” movie adaptation, Burton is said to be starting filming it with Eva Green and Asa Butterfield next year, 2015.

“Peregrine: Home for Peculiars” will reunite Burton and Green after the two worked together in the film “Dark Shadows” in 2012.
Asa Butterfield has just recently confirmed his talks with Burton on his possible portrayal of the role of Jacob Portman, the 16-year-old boy who discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine’s orphanage in Wales when he wants to find out the truth behind the death of his grandfather. But when he gets in the place, he also learns that there are still people living in the remains.

We thought that after all the hype following Ella’s new role in Tim Burtons new film project Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – we would share a review of the book by the Guardian. It may contain some semi-spolers so don’t read on if you want the filmm to be a total surprise! We are really excited for Ella, and bought the book ourselves today …

‘The last 70 or so pages pretty much consisted of no breathing and jumping out of your skin when your cat leaps unexpectedly onto your lap’

This book wrenched me out of my chaotic, stressy, unorganised life and into a whole new one; the life of Jacob as he journeys to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. His entire family life is shrouded by a feeling of mystery and almost spookiness. Yes, I was kept up quite late at night, having a heart attack every time the bed creaked, or even worse, when the Divergent poster fell down on my head. You don’t recover from something like that.

The imaginative Tim Burton has chosen Ella Purnell to star in his forthcoming film, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. You can already figure from the title that many more fresh actors will star in the cinematic production, which makes the movie more challenging to direct and more tempting to watch, mainly for Tim Burton addicts.

Another youngish actor to appear next to Ella Purnell on the on-building list for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is Asa Butterfield, already famous for working with director Martin Scorsese for the movie Hugo in 2011. Little Asa is considered for the part of Jacob Portman, central figure in the movie: ‘’Butterfield had been reported to be the favorite for the male lead. Sources now say he and Purnell have offers and negotiations are underway’’.

The upcoming motion picture is based on the debut novel by American author Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. The novel was published in June 2011 and reached the first position on the Children’s Chapter Books list in 2012, becoming a New York Times bestseller.

The plot revolves around the life of 16 year old Jacob Portman who travels to Wales to investigate on the life of his late grandmother. There, he discovers ‘’the derelict orphanage for peculiar children’’ and encounters Emma, ‘’a strikingly pretty girl’’, with whom he time travels into the 1940’s to meet the orphanage director, Miss Peregrine.

If Ella Purnell and Asa Butterfield are only in the negotiation process, Eva Green, Frank Miller’s Dame to Kill For is already reported as a definite part of the cast by Variety.com.

According to the source, production is likely to begin in 2015.
